Long before, I read
about the” Halo Therapy “practiced by ancient people. According to that, they
used the salt therapy to cure various physical and psychological disease caused
in man. I was much amazed to know all that so,
I decided to search more about
salt therapy. In my search, I came to know that pure salt besides adding flavor
in our food also renders many health benefits. Later I came to know about the
benefits of purest sea salt named as Himalayan pink salt. I got to know that
the salt is found in “Asia “at the foot of Himalayan mountain range. As my
search continued I came to know that Himalayan pink salt is much more than
simple salt and is naturally antibacterial and mineral rich which makes it used
to improve the quality indoor ambient air ad to cure many human physical
ailments.
Trip to kewra mines
in Punjab to see the Himalayan pink salt:
I got deep desire to see that
pink salt in raw form and how it looks like when it is mined. I discovered that
the Himalayan pink salt is also extracted from the Himalayan range in Pakistan
at the salt mines in KEWRA, so I decided to visit the khewra mines in Punjab
province of Pakistan. Khewra mines present a beautiful view to its visitors. I
was welcomed by salt souvenirs at the outskirt of mines. The salt is extracted from 400-kilo meter
long mine. I entered the mine with great delight. I had local guide Tanveer with
me. He worked in the salt mine as
manager .He is a friend of one of my colleague, and my colleague knowing my
deep desire, requested him to lead me there.
I began strolling on the track after a short journey of few hundred meters,
the track ended with the sign board indicating the tourist area on the left
hand and working area on the right hand I moved to the right with the aim to
explore the real looks of raw pink salt. My guide told me that the salt
indication was very firstly discovered by Alexander who once traveled through
this area. It is reported that his army saw their horses licking the mountains
rocks in the area. Later the salt mines were mechanized by the British in 1872.
The tunnel became darker as we move in I wore hamlet and carried a torch to see
the things inside. Everything, every wall was made up of crystalline salt and
when the sparkling touch light falls on it, shines emitting the glistening
effect.
